Abe Baldonado

Abe "Abenicio" Baldonado, a beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully at homein Santa Fe, New Mexico, on October 21, 2024, at the age of 90. Abe was born in El Rito, New Mexico, and he spent his early years in the lush landscapes of northern New Mexico, which shaped his deep appreciation for the outdoors and the beauty of nature.

Abe devoted his life to his work as a heavy equipment operator, a profession he excelled in and took great pride in. He dedicated over three decades to this labor of love, only transitioning to retirement at the age of 83. After years of operating machinery and overcoming challenges on the job, Abe embraced his golden years with the same vigor and determination that he brought to his work.

A true testament to his character, Abe was a strong willed individual whose influence resonated with everyone he met. His life was marked not only by professional accomplishments but also by a tenacious spirit that stretched far and wide. He cherished spending time outdoors, tending to his garden and yard, where he found peace and joy. Those sunny afternoons were often spent in the company of friends and family.

Abe will be remembered for his charismatic nature, his drive and as a devoted grandfather that impacted countless lives. His legacy is woven through the love and memories he cultivated within his family and community. 

Abe was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and one son. He is survived by his devoted wife,Dorothy; and his loving children, Joann (Martin), Michael (Patsy),Mary (Carlos), Diana, Jeff, Lydia(Manuel), Carmen, and Abe F. He also leaves behind grandchildren Arsenio (Jessica), Clarissa(DeAndra), Brandon, Bryana (Sidney), Adriana, Reyna, Perla (Joey), Karina (Santiago), Araceli,and Carlos; great-grandchild Ayva, and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

A rosary will be recited at Rivera Family Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Santa Fe on October 30, 2024 at 1:00 pm followed by a prayer service and burial.

Abe Baldonado may be gone, but his legacy of strength, love, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew him. He rests in eternal peace, and while he will be deeply missed, he will never be forgotten.
