Adelaide Wells, passed away on May 24, 2014. Addie was an adventurer who loved to travel, visiting family, friends and interesting sites all over the US in addition to exploring Cuba, China, Mexico and Europe. She was conversant in Spanish, Italian, and French. She loved art and worked at the Coe Kerr Gallery in New York City after retiring as a social worker in Child Protective Services in Nassau County. Her interest and involvement in politics arose from her desire to create a more just and humane world. She moved to Taos in 1978, where she made great friends, played bridge, took belly dancing lessons, walked daily around town, and spent time enjoying her daughters family, especially her many grandchildren. In her 80s she still made road trips solo to California to spend time with her son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters. Addie had a quirky sense of humor and it is impossible to think of her without remembering all the laughter. She had such zest for life she often ate dessert for lunch. Addie is survived by her daughter Carol Wells (Chas), her son Robert Wells (Kiki), 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She will be remembered for her warmth, joy and the love she shared with family and friends.
