Adelina G. Vigil, 85, a lifelong resident of Pecos, NM passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Adelina was born to Melisendro & Antonia Vigil on Dec. 27, 1935. She's preceded in death by her parents, husband Arturo, her beautiful daughter Annabelle, brothers Arcenio Vigil, Rudy Ortega, bro-in-law Andres Rivera and sister-in-law Agnes I. Ortega.
Adelina is survived by her children, Stephanie (David), Paul (Colleen), Arcy (Pam), Pete (Ginny), Michael (Yvette), Marisa (Tommy), Charles (Alden) and son-in-law Delfin Benavidez. Grandchildren, DJ (Mariah), Alicia, Steven (Danicia), Aaron (Alize), Antonio, Brittany, Orlando (Chanti), Adrian (Shauntae), Marlene, Matt, Billy & John. Great grandchildren Aubri, Melaki, Amaris, Celestina, Mayalita, Liliana & Martina. Siblings Mary, Frances, (Charlie), Cornelia, Kathy, Yolanda, (Julian) and brother Walter. Sisters-in-law Agnes Ortega & Nora Rodriguez. She's also survived by her nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
Adelina was a devout catholic, strong was her faith & she prayed faithfully every day. At bedtime, she prayed, "Now I lay me down to sleep" with Zena, her four-legged little companion by her side. She was a loving wife, mother, homemaker an excellent cook known for making her delicious bread in the horno, menudo, posole, chicos and beans. It takes a special kind of person to make anyone laugh and mom did just that with her quick wit & great sense of humor. She enjoyed dancing the polka, family gatherings, going to the casino & shopping. Adelina's pride was her family & she adored her grandchildren & great grandchildren whom she loved & cherished very much.
Adelina leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories & will be remembered as a selfless gentle soul, wife, mother, grandmother & friend who always had a smile even when times were tough. She paved the way and taught us who we are today, there's not enough words to express how much we appreciated the many sacrifices and all she did for us. We were truly blessed to have a such a beautiful, precious, loving mother. She'll be forever loved & missed.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Serving as urn bearer will be Alden Carrillo, her loyal and compassionate caregiver whom she loved as one of her own.
Public visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at St. Anthony's Church in Pecos with a rosary to follow at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church. Burial will be held at a later date.
