Agustin F Cruz

February 27, 1943 — August 13, 2010

Agustin F. Cruz- Gus/Fay Fayne passed away on August 13, 2010 after a brief but insurmountable illness. Gus was raised in New York but made New Mexico his home in 1986 and never looked back. He loved New Mexico, and NM chili, the hotter the better. He loved his wife of 37 years & was so proud of his girls. Gus was an incredible Fay Fayne to his Grandson Leander. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force, serving in both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. Gus retired from the United States Postal Service in Los Alamos. He was an active member of the Letter Carriers Union, and kept up with Union issues even after he had retired. He cared for his friends and co-workers from Los Alamos Post Office. He loved music, theater, dance, and the fine arts. Gus had been working towards his black belt in Hapkido at Santa Fe Tae Kwon Do. For those who knew him there was no question as to his love for the NJ Giants, the Yankees, and the NY Knicks. He was our rock, our pillar of strength, and someone could always share a laugh with. Gus was a devoted Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church. Through it all he maintained his faith and an unwavering devotion to the Lord. They say that you cant take it with you but he somehow managed to take that Giant shirt with him. Gus will be greatly missed by his heart broken family & friends. We know Jesus came and took his hand and said Come home my good and faithful servant, there is a crown waiting for you in heaven.Gus was preceded in death by his parents Agustin and Ann Andrea Cruz. Gus is survived by his loving wife Patricia Cruz of Los Alamos, Daughters Delia Cruz-Murphy of white rock, and Cassandra Cruz of New York City, grandson Leander Cruz Murphy of white rock, sisters Marlene Set and husband You Gee of Arizona, Audie Barrett and husband Frank of New York, and Selma Rivera of Florida, also many other nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A graveside service will be held on August 19, 2010 at 10:00am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial Service will be held on August 19th at 2:00 at the First Baptist Chuch in Los Alamos.
