Agustin Rosenaldo Garcia, age 88, born on August 27, 1932 in Abiquiu, NM, joined our Lord on Friday, May 14, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Ermelinda (Abeyta) Garcia, also born in Abiquiu, NM. Agustin is survived by his 9 children, Rebecca, Gloria, Ursula, Atocha, Ernest, Cecilia, Adrian, Inez, and Andrea along with their respective spouses. In addition he has 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Agustin worked and raised his children in Santa Fe, NM. Agustin began a career with the New Mexico State Penitentiary and retired shortly after the infamous riots. Agustin enjoyed the outdoors as well as all of the work that came with living off the land, gardening, irrigating the hay, stacking the hay at harvest time, and tending the horses and cows which his family owned. The farming life was his dream and after retiring, he and Ermelinda returned to their home in Abiquiu and lived out their retirement years doing what they both loved.
Agustin and Ermelinda lived a very humble life and together they left us a legacy of what it means to work hard, never give up, and showed us all what it means to have compassion towards those who do not have much, and to have unconditional love for all.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, May 20, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Abiquiu, NM. The Mass will be held on Friday, May 21, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Abiqui, NM.
