Alan C. Payne

Alan C. Payne passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2009 at Holy Cross Hospital surrounded by his loving children. Alan was survived by his three children, Areana Dru, Karen Richmond, and Curtis Payne and his two son-in-laws, Craig Richmond, and Jason Herlitz. He was also survived by his three grandchildren, Tanner, Mattox, and Lindy Mae Payne. Alan was born in Denver, Colorado to Floyd C. Payne and Maureen F. Payne on 12/19/28. He moved to Kansas City, MO, in 1941. He attended Southwest High in Kansas City and graduated with a BA in Business from Missouri University in 1950. Alan was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Lieutenant after receiving a direct commission while attending pilot training. He married Patsy A. Reid on December 20th,1952 and they enjoyed a loving marriage for 55 years. Alan worked for Skelly Oil Co. as an assistant V.P. of Marketing. He moved to California in 1953 and worked for Mobil Oil Corp., serving in various sales management positions in oil marketing, He retired in July 1984. He moved to Taos, NM in February 1992, joining the Taos Medical Services Foundation Board, in May 1993. He was President of TMSF several years. He and his wife were designated as a Patrons of the Arts by the Taos Fall Arts Committee in 2008 for all of their years of service to the committee. Alan deeply loved Taos and the community. His family is very grateful to all those who loved and were friends of Alan's and he will be truly missed. A small gathering of family and friends to celebrate Alan's life took place on Monday May 25th 2009. We love you Alan and celebrate your passing into a joyful new life.
