January 4, 1927 — February 11, 2017

Albert “Spike” Lapinskas, aged 90, formerly of Plaistow, NH, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2017 in Santa Fe, NM. He was born in Lawrence, Mass. on January 4, 1927 to his parents Mary Macksvitis and Alex Lapinskas. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara Bayek Lapinskas; they married on September 3, 1949 in Plaistow, NH. He will be sadly missed by his daughters Donna Lake and Debra Houlberg (Seron Houlberg) of Santa Fe, NM, and granddaughter Jenica Waters of Seattle, WA. He served in the US Army from October 1945 to November 1946 in the Pacific theater. He was employed at Western Electric Company in Haverhill, MA as a Communications Specialist growing synthetic quartz crystals. Some of his crystals flew into space on the Telstar satellite. He retired in 1981. “Spike” was a member and past treasurer of the Plaistow Fish and Game Club. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed many fishing trips throughout New England. He was a lifelong Boston Red Sox, Bruins and New England Patriots fan. He was a dedicated husband and father with a great sense of humor, who was noted for his anecdotes. A cat lover, he and Barbara adopted two stray neighborhood cats, Moochie and Cricket, and loved them dearly. He enjoyed tending his vegetable garden, feeding the birds, and trying to outmaneuver the local squirrels. The family would like to thank the ER and Hospice Staff at CSVH for all the support and loving care. The memorial service will be held in Plaistow, NH in April, 2017. Memorial contributions may be sent to the New Hampshire SPCA, 104 Portsmouth Ave, Stratham NH 03885
