ALEXANDER VLADIMIR MUNDT, 16, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Alex was born February 19, 1999 in Russia before being adopted by Mike and Lynn Mundt on October 31, 2000. His smile immediately warmed the hearts of family and friends. After living in Albuquerque, Alex and his family moved to Santa Fe in 2008. Alex had a vibrant sense of humor and a distinct laugh. He was passionate about sports and excelled at athletics due to his work ethic and commitment to team success. He recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He attended Santo Nino Catholic Elementary School, Santa Fe Preparatory School, and was currently a junior in the MASTERS Program Charter High School. Alex enlivened every room he walked into. He had a big, infectious, impish smile and a contagious sense of humor. He took a positive and carefree approach to all aspects of his life, and he always encouraged others to live the same. He was extremely kind, compassionate, and friendly with everyone. He touched and enriched the lives of many people. Alex was an incredible son, brother, teammate, and friend. He will be dearly missed. Alex is survived by his father, Michael Mundt; mother, Lynn Mundt; brother, Aaron Kauffman; sister, Kristin Kauffman (Steven Grant); sister, Alexis Mundt; brother, Sergei Mundt; brother, Nikolai Mundt; and sister, Irina Mundt. Funeral services for Alex will be held on Tuesday, November 3rd at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. A viewing and welcoming will commence at 9:30 am, followed by Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 10:00 am, Eulogy at 10:45 am, and Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. A Burial Ceremony will follow at 12:45 pm at the Veterans National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Serving as pallbearers will be Reyes Mason, Shane Unverforth, James Catanach, Francis Casillo y Mulert, Taylor Ellis, Jacob Romero, Jeremy Portillo and Sergei Mundt. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations in honor of Alex be made to an orphanage, childrens sports organization, or charity of your choice.
