Alfredo Fred J. Gonzales age 86, a resident of Taos, NM died on October 3, 2011 after a short illness. Fred retired from Los Alamos National Laboratories after 31 years in the S site as a Technical Machinist. Fred operated and managed El Restarante de Don Pablo Gomez for almost a decade. He was known for his award winning red chile and southwestern cuisine, and even won Ortegas Red Chile Cook Off in 1978. Freds civic and religious involvement includes service with the Taos Municipal School Board of Education, Kiwanis Club, Holy Name Society, and the Cursillistas of Espanola Valley. Fred enjoyed cooking, carpentry, camping, and international travel. He was known for his organizational abilities and strict project management skills that he carried out in many food service roles with the Taos Municipal Schools, Quality Inn, Kachina Lodge, and SMU-Fort Burgwin. He is preceded in death by his wife Isabel Gomez Gonzales of 38 years, parents, Flavio and Alberta Valerio Gonzales; brothers Ernesto, Flavio Jr. and Alberto Gonzales. He is survived by his daughter Imelda Jeantete (Henry), grandsons Enrico (Miranda) and Louis, great grandchildren Jadyn and Lauren Faith. He is also survived by his current wife of 20 years, Clorinda Gonzales, children Carol Valerio (Ivan), Debbie Rich (Allen) Rudy, David and Walter Cordova (Judy), grandchildren Ivy, Ivan Joseph, Gabriel, Danny, Abigail, Eddy, Sonya, Sarah, Raylynn, Brittany, Miranda, Edna, Jeremy, Marissa; great granddaughter, Mariah, who he had a special bond with and 12 other great grandchildren, many relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on October 05, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Funeral mass was celebrated on October 06, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe with interment following at the Sierra Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Enrio and Louis Jeantete, Rudy, David and Walter Cordova and Ivan Joseph Valerio Jr.
The eulogy was presented by his grandson, Louis Jeantete and an intimate friend, Deacon Jerry Quintana.
