ALFREDO A. MAES Age 85 of the Espanola Valley passed away peacefully December 30 with his family by his side. He was married to his beloved wife Elasia for 60 years until her death on September 13, 2004. Mr. Maes worked for the Zia Company in Los Alamos for 34 years and was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. He enjoyed woodcarving and farming, and the special times with his loving family. Mr. Maes was preceded in death by his wife Elasia, his parents Maximiano and Teresa Maes, granddaughter Debbie Espinoza, brothers Raphael and Rudy Maes and sister Frances Vigil. He is survived by his children: Elsie Espinoza of CA., Patsy Block and husband Jerome of Santa Fe, Gloria Atencio of Santa Fe, Max Maes and wife Viola of Espanola, Lorraine Martinez and husband Michael of Espanola, Connie Luna and husband Gilbert of Albuquerque, Diana Tafoya and husband Wayne of Santa Clara, and Alfred Maes, Jr. and wife Annie of Espanola. Mr. Maes is also survived by his brother Joe Maes and wife viola of Albuquerque, sisters Emily Maes of Albuquerque and Virginia Martinez and husband Pete of Grants, sisters in law Margaret Maes of Vadito, Lorraine Maes of Albuquerque and Rachel Romero of Penasco, seventeen Grandchildren and thirteen great- grandchildren. Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Monday January 2nd at 7:00 in the chapel at Block-Salazar Mortuary, the Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday at ________ at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Espanola, interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:30 pm with military honors.
