Alfredo Padilla

Rev Alfredo Padilla Born in 1934 ended his life’s journey on February 20, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Alfredo was born to Miguel Padilla and Beronis Sandoval Padilla. Alfredo was the Patriarch of the Padilla family. He grew up on the family ranch “El Cerrito” in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Truchas New Mexico. At a very young age he learned the value of hard work, farming and raising sheep and goats. He was educated at the Truchas Mission School, Allison James and Menual School. He went on to receive a BA in History and Sociology at Hastings College in Nebraska. He was then drafted into the Army and served his country while stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon furlough he returned to Truchas and met our mother Theresa Trujillo Padilla. They were married on January 04, 1961. After serving in the Army he went on to attend the University of Dubuque in Dubuque, Iowa where he studied Pastoral care and Religious Education. He then received his Bachelors of Divinity. He Attended McCormick theological Seminary, in Chicago, IL and Majored in Doctrine of Ministries Program. He became an ordained Presbyterian Minister and served churches in Ranchos de Taos, Raton, Chamisal, Penasco, Truchas, Chimayo, Cordova, Mora and Chacon. He also worded for Synods of New Mexico, Colorado and Utah as a Health Fairs Coordinator and Palo Duro Presbyterian in Muleshoe, Texas as a Resource Mobilizer. Alfredo was an avid fisherman and loved the great outdoors. His Favorite color was cobalt blue. He enjoyed seeing the world and was able to travel to places such as Spain, Europe, Italy, Mexico City and several trips to Germany. He was a man of great Valor, He enjoyed reading and spending time with all his grandchildren, He attended all their school and sports activities when he was able. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 37 years Theresa Padilla, his daughter Monica Padilla, his sisters Julianita Padilla whom played a very important role in his upbringing. Elizaida Trujillo, Amalia Montoya and Husband Joe, Brohters Nicanor Martinez and wife Elizaida. His mother in law Beroniz Trujillo, sister and brother in laws Rose Trujillo, Leroy Trujillo, Ercilia and Sotelo Murrieta, joe and Isabelle Williams, Wilfredo Trujillo.He is survived by his daughters Rhonda and husband Jorge Gomez, Rena and husband Nelson Edmonds, Of Los Luceros, Veronica and husband Benito of Denver, Co. His grandchildren Monica, Adrianna and Gabriela Velasquez, Alfredo, Diego, Jaime Martinez, Adrianna Gomez, Regina, Nelson II and Earl Edmonds. Sister in laws and Brother in law Lenore Trujillo of Truchas, Anastacio and Irene Trujillo of Englewood, Co. God children Concha Trujillo and Dean Fresquez and many nieces, nephews and cousins. We would like to thank Dr. Mark Bjorklund, Susana Hermorsillo and Amber Care Hospice for their compassionate and comforting care, Nurse Devonna, Aide Julian, Cassandra, Dennis and Barbara. Margaret Frankie and Jamie Quinones for your pastoral care. Thank you for all your visits, prayers and food that were shared during Dads illness as well as the staff at Rivera Family Funeral Home. A Visitation was held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5-7pm at the Rivera Family Funeral Home Chapel with a Wake to follow at 7:00pm. Funeral service will take place at Rivera Family Funeral Home at 8:30am with burial at 10:30am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
