Jean Carolyn (Spence) Ali
1932-2021
Jean Carolyn (Spence) Ali passed away peacefully on the morning of March 20, 2021, at Santa Fe Care Center in New Mexico. She was resident of Barberton, Ohio, and a long-time administrative worker at the Barberton Health Department before retiring to Los Alamos, N.M.
Born in Crooksville, Ohio, she is survived by her brother Robert Spence; three children: Jeffrey (Dolores) Stewart, Michelann (Stewart) Sweeney-Cordero and Ivy (Stewart) Church; nephews: John Kepler, Rick Kepler, Greg Spence, Scott Spence, and Ric Spence; nieces: Tracy (Spence) Dobranksy and Shawn Spence; grandchildren: Don Stewart, Jeffrey D Stewart, Shea (Alejandra) Sweeney, Micah Church, Clayton (Stephanie) Stewart and Joe Stewart; and great-grandchildren: Charley Stewart, Jacob Stewart, Tristian Sweeney and Shea Sweeney Jr.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Edward J Ali; first husband, Donald E Stewart; parents, Robert Spence and Lorena Baughman; sisters Rita (Spence) Young and Peggy Spence; nieces Debra (Kepler) Schultz and Karen (Kepler) Biagetti; and nephews William Kepler and Brady Spence
Jean enjoyed spending time with her family, laughing, watching Cleveland and Ohio State sports teams, and smoking her Marlboro Menthol cigarettes. She battled through health issues and the death of Edward in her later years, but was a fighter all the way until the very end. Jean liked to joke that she was afraid of accidentally being buried alive, so as per her wishes her remains have been cremated. The family will hold a private celebration of life in remembrance of Jean later this summer.
