Amelia Garcia

September 5, 1934 — March 17, 2022

AMELIA ESTELE GARCIA, born September 5, 1934, left this earth to be with our Heavenly Father  on Thursday, March 17, 2022.  Amelia was born to Celina and Efrosinio Trujillo of Pojoaque.  She married the love of her life, Joe M. Garcia on October 1, 1955.  Amelia was a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Amelia stayed home with her four children until they went to school.  She was a teachers aide at the Pojoaque Schools.  She also worked for the Santa Fe New Mexican for many years, and retired from there.

Amelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Joe; her parents, Efrosinio and Celina Trujillo; sisters, Connie (Alfred) Rivera, Martha (Gilbert) Alarid, Irene (Julian) Bjomson, and Lucy (Faustin) Pacheco; her father and mother-in-law, Willie and Paulita Garcia, and her brothers-in-law Eddie (Mela) Garcia,  Arthur (Celine) Garcia, and Raymond (Connie) Garcia.

Amelia is survived by her children, Denise (Leo Antonio) Vigil, Gwen (Bob) Gerrity, William (Luann) Garcia, Claudia (James) Waldschmidt, and Kyndra (Frank) Apodaca; Grandchildren, Loryann (Miguel) Garcia, Theresa (Elias) Griego, Dane Roybal (Michelle), Christopher Garcia, Hana Garcia, Daniel (Kay) Griego, William (Krista) Griego, Brandon Waldschmidt; great grandchildren, Violet Apodaca, Noelle Apodaca, Brittney Garcia, EJ Griego, Lincoln Roybal, Landynray Garcia, Jaelyn Griego, Aubrelle Griego, Markelle Griego, and Isabella Griego.  She is also survived by her sister Cora Seals and her brother Dan (Sharon) Trujillo.

A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Del Valle de Pojoaque, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow at the Pojoaque Cemetery.  The Church does require that all attendees of the service please wear a mask during the entire service.

Pallbearers will include Miguel Garcia, Elias Griego, Brandon Waldschmidt, Daniel Griego, William Griego and Christopher Garcia.
