Amos Rivera

Amos Rivera, 88, of Taos and most recently of Albuquerque died on January 14, 2022.  Amos and his wife Adina founded Rivera Family Funeral Homes in Pueblo, Colorado and Taos, NM, experiencing the pride of seeing the business he started to grow to be the largest family owned funeral care provider in Northern NM.  Amos was very proud of his profession and career as a Licensed Funeral Director, and along with his family, compassionately provided service for over 60 years to his neighbors and friends in Southern Colorado and Northern NM.  He graduated from Menaul High School in Albuquerque and Simmons Institute of Funeral Service in Syracuse, NY. and attended Adams State College. He was the former Pueblo County Coroner and a Veteran of the US Air Force during the Korean era. Amos loved his home town of Taos and over the years was a member of the VFW, SPMDTU, Masonic Lodge, Kiwanis,  a charter member of the Rotary Club, and also active in civic organizations in Colorado. He regularly expressed his gratitude to his wife Adina and his family for the beautiful life he lived. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Manuel & Estafanita Rivera, seven brothers Francis, Jasper, Emory, Vernon, Manuel, Eloy and Tom. He is survived by his wife Adina and life companion of 61 yrs. His sons and daughters Thom (Joyce), Tim (Kellie), Beth (Dan), Christine (Mark), Matthew, Sr., and Patricia (Darren).  He is also survived by his grandchildren, who he adored, Matthew, Jr. who was like a son, Miranda, Abigail, Timur, YQ, Zoë, Rui, Manuel and Madelynn, Rena, Isaac, great grandchildren Jaden, Xavier, Champ, Makai’o and Kaipo. Amos was very appreciative of his many employees and coworkers including  Doreen, Cipriano and Sandy for their many years of loyalty and hard work. 

During the period of Covid a private family service was held at Rivera’s Kiva of Light Chapel in Santa Fe with Interment and military honors at Rivera’s Santa Fe Memorial Gardens.
