AMPARO GONZALES, 90, of Santa Fe, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 following a extended illness. She was born August 18, 1928 in Ocaté, NM, the daughter of Anna and Margarito Trujillo. She and Gilbert Gonzales were married on September 3, 1948 in Santa Fe, where they made their home and raised their family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Margarito and Anna Trujillo; her husband Gilbert Gonzales; a son, Narciso Gonzales; sister Ernestina Todd; and brother Margarito Trujillo, Jr. Mrs. Gonzales is survived by her two daughters, Priscilla Smith (Dave James) and Elisa Gorostiza; three sons, Robert Gonzales (Gloria), Eddie “Pirate” Gonzales, all of Santa Fe, and Gilbert Lee Gonzales of Wagon Mound, NM. Surviving grandchildren are Tara Smith, Tanya Smith, KimBerLee Gonzales, Rodney Gonzales (Veronica), Gary Gonzales (Monica), Marc Gorostiza (Melissa), Valerie Gonzales, Gilbert Gonzales Jr (Judy), Ruben Gonzales (Lee Ann), and Steven Gonzales and adopted grandchildren Brianna and Meghan. Great-grandchildren include Elijah, Aerial, Cheyanne, Savannah, Hannah, Deandre, Adrian, Avery, and Mallory. She is also survived by her brother, Eloy Trujillo (Connie); sister-in-law, Ada Marie Trujillo; and Aunt, Julia Sena; as well as her God-Children, Michael Casias, Melody Garcia, Cassandra Sena Baker, and Charlie Griego; and many special nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family. Mom Loves her family and was a nurturing baby sitter to many children for many years and she also loved fishing. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Rivera Family Kiva Chapel where a Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, March 4, 2019 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Community. Interment will follow at 12:45 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband Gilbert. Pallbearers will include Gary Gonzales, Gilbert Gonzales Jr, Marc Gorostiza, Tara Smith, Tanya Smith, and Valerie Gonzales. Honorary Pallbearers include KimBerLee Gonzales, Rodney Gonzales, Ruben Gonzales, and Michael Casias.
