Andrew M. Collaro, 66, of Santa Fe, passed away on December 11, 2010. He was born in Pjestani, Czechosloviakia to Viera O. Collaro and George Collaro on July 19, 1944. Andrew was a US Navy Veteran.
Andrew was born in Pjestani Czechosloviaka. His father, Geroge, was a merchant of Greek origin, and his mother was a Pediatrician of Slovak origin.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Viera O. Collaro of Santa Fe, NM, and father, George Collaro, of Ann Arbor, MI.
He is survived by his sister, Nausika Richardson of Dixon, NM, sister, Viera M. Collaro of Copenhagen, Denmark, nephew, Phil Boss of Las Cruces, NM, niece, Debbie Boss of Scottsdale, AZ, niece, Faith Gelvin of Las Vegas, NM, and nephew, Christian CC Christensen of Copenhagen, Denmark.
When he was only 12 years of age, his family immigrated to the United States. After Andrew was naturalized and became of age to serve in the US Armed forces, he enlisted with the US Navy and served on the USS MARS off the coast of Vietnam. Andrew was a courageous and devoted servant for the USA. He lived most of his life in Santa Fe, NM where he was a well known and liked familiar personality. He will be missed by his family to which he meant a lot. May he rest in peace.
A memorial service was held on December 20. 2010 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
