Andrew Ortiz

ANDREW (ANDY) ROBERT ORTIZ, OF Santa Fe, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011 following an extended illness. Andy was born in Santa Fe on December 30, 1953, the son of Placido and Charlotte Ortiz. He attended schools in Santa Fe and later worked in maintenance for state government. He enjoyed skiing and hiking in the mountains, and had been employed at the Santa Fe ski basin. Andy was a very simple, but happy person; he was very giving to others who needed his help. He loved to travel and had visited many places in our great nation. Andy was a member of the cathedral basilica of St. Francis of Assissi catholic community. He was preceded in death by his father, Placido Ortiz. Andy is survived by his mother, Charlotte Ortiz; brothers, Ralph Ortiz and wife Rosemarie Leigh, and Michael Ortiz and wife Gloria of Los Lunas; two sisters, Charlene Ortiz and Angela Flores and husband Billy (Glenn); and several nieces and nephews and other relatives. Visitation and rosary were held on April 19, 2011 at the Rivera Family of Santa Fe Funeral Options Chapel. Mass of christian burial was celebrated on April 20, 2011 at St. Anne Catholic church. Interment followed at Rosario Cemetery. Pallbearers will include David Sanchez, Lexy Baca, Steve Romero, JoJo Gomez, Edward Santana and J.R. Polermo.
