Angela T. Baca, 86 of Santa Clara Pueblo passed away on February 16, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband; Jose A. (Tony) Baca, father; Cleto Tafoya, mother; Severa Tafoya, brother; Teofilo Tafoya, sisters; Mela Nichols, Lydia Garcia, Mary Agnes Tafoya, Tonita Tafoya, Rosita Tafoya Dasheno, Close nephew; Richard Nichols, Niece; Tina Garcia, Nephew Greg Garcia. She is survived by her daughter Janice Anne Baca, sons; David Baca, Gordon Baca his wife Christina, and their son Christopher, Chuck Baca, and wife Anna, and their children Paula, Joseph and Gwen. Son; Gary Baca, significant other Kim Trujillo, and their children Mindy, Sarah, Brandon and Joshua, grandkids, Ashton, Jazlyn, and Harlan. Daughter; Leona Baca (Jim) their children Mikayla Grey, Mary Baca (Jimmy) she raised as her own. Adrian Baca she helped raise as her own. Grandchildren; Kylie Baca, Anissa Cordova, Jesse Cordova, Olivia Salazar. Son; Darryl Baca, significant other Delores, son; Chris Baca wife Janice and their children Jenyce Povi and Jareth Tsiwii. Son; Alvin Baca and daughter Aynjil, daughter; Louisa Baca, Niece; Carol Ann Nichols, she helped raise as her own, her children Zachary, Tracie, Fawn & grandkids. Nephew; Robert Nichols, she helped raise as her own. Close friends; Laura Jagles, Ruby Singer. Angela Baca is the Matriarch of the first family of Santa Clara melon potters. Angela was a melon pot specialist who made various sizes in both red and black. She undoubtedly had one of the longest potting careers in Santa Clara Pueblo. She has her pottery displayed at the National Museum of the American Indian Smithsonian Institution, The Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian and other numerous museums and galleries. Pallbearers are going to be; David Baca, Gordon Baca, Chuck Baca, Gary Baca, Darryl Baca, Chris Baca and Alvin Baca. Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Baca, Adrian Baca, Joseph Baca-Naranjo, Jareth Baca, Jesse Cordova and Jimmy Gallegos. A public viewing and wake was held at 6:30 pm. A rosary was recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Rivera Family Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at 8:30 am at Santa Clara Catholic Church. Interment took place at 10:30 am on Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. This obituary is protected by copyright laws, unauthorized use or duplication is prohibited.
