Angie Cantu

Angie Cantu, 83, of Taos passed away November 15, 2008. Mrs. Cantu was the former First Lady of Taos and co-owner of Cantu Furniture with her husband Philip Cantu, Jr. the former Mayor of Taos. She is preceded in death by her husband Philip Cantu Jr., infant son Robert Cantu, grandson, Lucio Hopkins, parents Ruben and Esther Chavez, sisters Cordy Mestas, Rebecca Lucero, Anita Garcia and brother, Frank Chavez. She is survived by sons and daughters Loretta Cantu Rothstein (Mitch) of Rio Rancho, Philip D. Cantu (Dori) of Mora, Patricia Cantu-McLaughlin (Kerry) of Nebraska, Ruben Cantu (Padma) of Virginia, Judi Cantu (James Mondragon) of Taos, Brian Cantu of Albuquerque, 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. A visitation was held on November 20, 2008 at Rivera Chapel. Rosary was recited on November 20, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with interment following at the Sierra Vista Cemetery.
