Anita Ruiz

Anita was born in Kansas City, MO on August 5, 1958, to Gerald Lewis and Mary Lewis (Vasquez). She graduated from Santa Fe High School. She lived in Texas for several years where she met her husband, Fernando Ruiz. After returning to Santa Fe, NM the pair welcomed two daughters, Marisol (Missy) Ruiz and Maria (Scarlett) Ruiz. Anita retired from Walgreens in 2020 after many years of service.

In her free time Anita loved to watch Scooby-Doo and spending time with her grandbabies. She was a dog lover and had several fur babies. If she could save every animal in need she would. She was a great friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She had a kind and loving heart and was willing to help whenever she could. Anita had a great sense of humor and was always joking around bringing smiles to everyone.

She is survived by Father Gerald Lewis of Santa Fe, NM. Sisters Cecilia Borrego of Kansas City, MO, Deanna Garduno of Santa Fe, NM, Marie Lewis of Santa Fe, NM. Husband Fernando Ruiz and daughters Marisol (Missy) Ruiz, son-in-law,Michael Alcaraz, and Maria (Scarlett) Ruiz of Santa Fe.

Grandchildren, Arianna Alcaraz, Danielle Alcaraz, Mateo Alcaraz, Jazmyn Ruiz, Damian Ruiz and Natalia Ruiz.

Anita is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be November 28, 2023. Rosary and mass will be at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 9am and mass will follow at 10am. The burial will take place at Rosario Cemetery at 12pm. A luncheon will directly follow, location is TBD.
