Anikka Martikka Garcia 33 years old.

A Penasco Resident passed away unexpectedly on June 23, 2022 in Rio Rancho, NM. Born April 4th, 1989 in Los Alamos, NM to Melissa Hoover-Fresquez and Johnny Garcia. She attended Penasco Elementary, Penasco Jr. High & High School and Graduated Proudly with the Class of 2008. She attended UNM-Taos studying to be a Culinary Artist. Anikka was an energetic, athletic, beautiful, loving young lady, making friends everywhere she went. She participated at a young age in many activities and sports, Dance Team, Basketball, Volleyball, Track, Softball, Gymnastics, Glorieta Summer Program where she made numerous friends. Also played Clarinet and Guitar in the school marching band, competing at the NM State Fair Parade & winning. She loved Drama Class where she performed in many plays. She was 1st Runner Up for Penasco Fiestas and money collected was used to buy scaffolding for Las Trampas Church. She was also involved in many events for the youth with PACA and with El Rancho de las Golondrinas demonstrating at the Molasses Mill for the Harvest Festival with Dad Dean,  Uncle Benny and Anna, her Hon. She grew up enjoying the outdoors, playing with her many fur babies, cruising the mountains with Her Anna, hiking & camping at the local camping spots, Trampas Lakes & The Jicarita. Playing with her many nephews & nieces, jumping on the trampoline, swimming in the pool. Riding the 4 wheeler, playing basketball and enjoying carnival rides. She planned every party or BBQ we enjoyed over the years. The kids' birthdays were always made extra special by their Tia Nikky. She touched many lives during her 33 years and will be truly missed by everyone. Her Bright Light will live on in us all. Thanks for being the BEST to each of us!!! We love you, Nikky!!!

She is preceded in Death by her Grandparents: Mary Jane (Lopez) & Lawrance Hoover and Isabel (Romero) & Joe Garcia. Her Aunties: Jessica Hoover & Tanya Chavez-Hoover. Sister-in-Law: Kathy Cozart. Uncles: David Craft & Chris Rodarte. Cousins: Shane Arguello & Joey Lopez. Infant Cousin Madyson Jane Hoover. Many other family members & friends.

She is survived by her Wife: Anna Maria Velarde-Sanchez, Parents: Johnny, Melissa & Dean. Grand Parents: Albino & Annabelle Fresquez. Brothers and Sisters: Joey Garcia, Anastacia Garcia, Sebastian Hoover, Marisa & Jose Gonzales, Selena, & JJ Velarde. In Laws: Jose & Cecilia Velarde. Uncles & Aunts: Matthew Hoover, Lori & Benny Arguello, Barbara & Sean, Harvey & Cindy, William & Arlene Garcia. Nephews & Nieces: Jazmeen, Isabella, Jeffrey, Jessica, Jerome, Jeremiah, Joseph and James. God Children/Special Nephew & Niece: Christian & Madilyn Hoover. Cousin Lorenzo Garcia & Family. Many other family members & friends.

Please join us at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 13, 2022 for a Celebration of Life for Anikka at The Emmanuel Presbyterian Church in Rodarte. The Burial will follow at the Santo Tomas Cemetery in Ojo Sarco. Comida to continue the Celebration in Anikka's honor at the Ojo Sarco Community Center following The Burial. Follow the Balloons!!
