ANN MARIE (SPENCER) DUNNING
Ann Dunning ascended from this life Sunday morning, February 24, at the home in Eldorado that she shared with her husband of 60 years, Bill. Friends will share farewells and memories in the Kiva Chapel of Light on Rodeo Road on Friday, March 1, at 1 p.m. Burial follows in the Golestan-i-Javid (Eternal Garden) Bahá’í section of Santa Fe Memorial Gardens.
Ann, born November 22, 1937, in Fayette County, Texas, was the oldest of four children of Ross and Nelda Marberger Spencer of Anchor Ranch. She attended the University of New Mexico, where she met and married Bill Dunning on June 5, 1958. Life in New Mexico and Arizona included Bahá’í pioneering on the Navajo Reservation and in Los Alamos, as well as support of musical and cultural activities in Santa Fe. Ann served on Bahá’í Spiritual Assemblies in Santa Fe and Santa Fe Counties. She is survived by Bill, their sons Ross and Carl of Santa Fe, Carl’s wife Genevieve Lisa, grandchildren Collin, Amber, and Eluterio; brother Ross Spencer, Jr. and his wife Sherrie, sister Sue Shade and her husband Grover, of Texas, and their families.
A Memorial Celebration under the direction of the Bahá’í Spiritual Community will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Kiva Chapel of Light at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest.
