Ann Foster Partridge, 90, passed away Monday, Aug. 30, following a brief illness with family by her side.
Born in 1931, Ann was the third child of Donald DeLacy and Gerda Arminel Foster. Ann’s childhood was spent largely in New Jersey, where her father worked for Bell Telephone Laboratories, and in New England, with one year in Montreal, as the family moved with her father’s professional positions.
In 1948, at age 16, Ann followed family tradition and began her studies at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, graduating in 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. It was while she was earning her Master’s degree in Nursing at Yale University that she agreed to a coffee date with Ralph Eames Partridge, Jr., a doctoral student in Electrical Engineering at Yale. They were married in 1954 and graduated from Yale in 1955. The couple moved to Los Alamos for Ralph’s career at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory.
While raising four children, Ann worked as a nurse in multiple doctors’ offices. She also explored careers in veterinary medicine and served a brief stint as a census worker. Ann read medical journals and was never without her Merck Manual, always willing to look up symptoms and treatments for whatever ailed you.
She was a life-long learner and enjoyed exploring new topics, from real estate and investing to pets and plants. Ann loved animals and had a reputation with the local veterinarians for her cats’ long lifespans.
Ann is predeceased by her parents, brother James Pierpont Foster, and husband Ralph Partridge. She is survived by her sister, Mary Evdokimoff; her four daughters, Valerie Partridge, Linda Siglock (Daniel Buckley), Betsy Keating (Michael), and Nancy Partridge; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Interment will be at Guaje Pines during a private family gathering. Due to Covid restrictions, a public Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a future time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to an animal shelter or other charity of your choice.
Ann's family has entrusted Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations with the gentle care of their loved one. Please share your condolences and memories with the family.
