Anthony B. "Sugarbear" Anaya

August 17, 1962 — March 8, 2019

Anthony better known as Sugar Bear passed away peacefully on Friday March 08, 2019 surrounded by family. Anthony is preceded in death by his mother Corrine Navarro whom he loved more than anything in this world, his brother Jerry Anaya Grandparents Melecio and Margarita Jiron, Uncles Joe Martinez, Tony, Juan Melecio, Frank” Pancho”, and Manny Jiron. Aunts Frances Jiron, Mary Rita Marquez, and Irene Vigil. Nephews Carlos Ortega, Marcos Antonio Martinez, Paul and Michael Romero. Cousins Juan Antonio Candelaria and Patsy Martinez. He is survived by his father Daniel Navarro, Brothers Rick, Mike (Tina), and Peter (Eileen) Anaya, Sisters Lupe Anaya , Dolores Ortega husband Angelo Sister Frances Martinez husband Nick and Nephews Ricardo Anaya (Rachael), Damian Anaya, Carlos Anaya (Fran), Jerry Anaya Jr. (Valerie), Estevan Anaya Nieces: Christine Anaya, Jessica Anaya, Katelynn Anaya, Latisha Romero (Steve) Erica Romero-Sanchez (Tammy) , Bernadette Ortega (Adrian Ortiz), Kariann Ortega, Arabella Villegas- Ortega, Nicolette Martinez and Lynette Martinez. Aunt Connie Candelaria and husband Bidal, Uncle Ray Martinez and wife Bea, special cousin Cheryl Vigil plus many other great nieces, nephews and cousins. Anthony was born in Santa Fe on August 17, 1962 and raised on Don Juan St. where his grandparents home was. He enjoyed playing sports as a youth then worked construction for years with his father. Anthony was a caring man who took helped care for his mother when she became ill helping her until her passing in 2001. He had a heart gold and was the type of person who would help anyone who asked even giving you the last penny he had if you needed it. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A rosary will be recited on Monday March 18, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Kiva Chapel of Light . Burial Mass will be on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 10:00am at St.Anne’s Church. Interment to follow at Rosario Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Vincents hospital that cared for Anthony during his last days. Thank you to PMS hospice for all you did for us and for Anthony, also thank you to the staff at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Albuquerque for the wonderful care given to Anthony.
