Anthony Martinez

November 23, 1955 — December 4, 2020

Anthony J. Martinez was born on November 23, 1955 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Irenio Martinez and Rose Vigil (deceased).  Anthony grew up in Santa Fe with his brothers and sisters.  He attended (Our Lady of Guadalupe and Santa Public Schools).  He spent his adult life self-employed and a jack of all trades, in Truchas and Chimayo, NM.  He was a helping hand on the land owned by his father.  Later in Anthony’s adult life he had life experiences that resulted in him staying and living close to home, under the loving guidance of his father and stepmother.  It is here where he developed great friendships with neighbors and passer-byers. He enjoyed helping his neighbors.  He had a unique personality and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  His hobbies included riding motorcycles and ten-speed bicycles, listening to music, going for long walks around his community, and often catching rides to areas close by to meet new people.  He had a deep affinity for being out in nature and enjoyed finding and collecting rocks.  Anthony’s joy of nature also guided him to a passion for animals and cultivation—growing beautiful roses and other flowers.  He helped his father with their horses and other animals, and had a loving heart and respect for life, rarely even harming an insect that crossed his path.  When he was not out in nature, he enjoyed keeping up with current affairs and often was first to know the local and national news headlines.  When he was home, he kept a watchful eye on his parents’ home and other close neighbors to ensure everyone was kept safe and secure.    Anthony will be remembered as witty, humorous, loving, and brotherly.

Anthony is preceded in death by his mother Rose Vigil, grandparents Luis and Ramona Martinez, brother Michael Martinez, sister Bernice Dominguez, and brother-in-law Benjamin Vasquez.  He is survived by his parents, Irenio and Orlinda Martinez, siblings Irene Rodriguez (Joe), Patsy Montoya (Richard), Toby Martinez, Rose Vasquez, Joseph Martinez, Anna Nofchissey (Robert), and Angelica Duran, along with several nephews and nieces, and numerous friends and relatives.
