Antonia (Toni) Oakeley passed away peacefully at home on November 23, 2024, at the age of 84 surrounded by family. Antonia was born on December 18, 1939, in Taos, NM to Aureliano and Feloniz Vargas née Romero, the second of four sisters. She was the “Mother of five sons who were “The Love” of her life. She loved them beyond measure”. They were God’s greatest gift to her on this earth! 

Antonia was preceded in death by her parents, Aureliano and Feloniz Vargas; in-laws Robert C. and Eloisa Oakeley; sisters Delia Garcia, Dolores McCullough; brothers-in-law Ruben Garcia, James McCullough, Frank Padilla, Eloy “Lloyd” Mondragon, Robert F. Oakeley; sister-in-law Barbara Mondragon; niece Althea Oakeley; nephew Patrick Oakeley.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, COL (ret) William A.; five sons Christopher, Mark (Kimberly), Bruce, Shaun (Martha) and Timothy (Louise); sister Priscilla Padilla; brother-in-law James (Louella) Oakeley; sister-in-law Gladys Oakeley. Fourteen grandchildren Rosalyn, Joshua, Andriana, Brittany, Jack, Annie, Nick, Marissa, Matthew, Mitchell, Tyler, Ian, Ryan and Joshua Vigil; Six great-grandchildren Logan, Natalia, Alizae, Kalia, Charlie and Cole. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. 

The family would like to thank the entire leadership (past and present especially Stephanie and Brenda) at Vista Hermosa Living Care for their services and the numerous caregivers who helped her over the past three years.

Funeral Service will be held at Santa Maria De La Paz on Thursday December 12th, 2024, with a 9am Rosary and Mass to follow.  

 Private interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
