Arselia Gallegos

Arselia Herrera Gallegos, age 88, resident of Espanola since 1982, peacefully passed away on Thursday November 5, 2020. There will be no funeral services at this time due to the Covid-19 precautions and travel restrictions.

Arselia was born on March 31, 1932 to Luis and Adela Herrera in Los Ancones New Mexico.  She married Albert Gallegos on July 18 1955.They were married 39 years until his death in 1995. She retired from Northern Community College in June 1988.

 Arselia was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, her Husband, Albert Gallegos, her sisters Isabelita, Natividad, Delubina, Veronica, Flora, and brother Tomas.  She is survived by daughter Lorraine (Louie) Martinez, son Albert Gallegos Jr (Daniell), daughter Mary Louise Gallegos, and son Joseph Gallegos (Janie). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who loved their Tia Arselia dearly.

The Family of Arselia wishes to extend our sincere thanks and gratitude to Tony Gallegos, nephew, who was there daily to help Mary Louise at a moment’s notice with Arselia’s care and to the Hospice nurses and staff for their compassionate care on her final days.

 In Lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association Santa Fe New Mexico. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.
