Arthur Anaya, 79, of Taos passed away on January 24, 2017. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in Taos, NM and attended Highlands University where he graduated with a double major in Elementary Education and in Art. He taught school in Penasco, NM for several years and then at Taos High School teaching jewelry, pottery and painting. He excelled in making jewelry, painting and making pottery at home. Arthur enjoyed restoring classic and antique cars and had several of them. He loved camping and fishing and was involved in the Jaycees Organization and also volunteered at the Boy’s Club. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Catherine V. Anaya, parents, Lydio and Rosana Anaya, aunt that raised him, Elvira Cruz, brother, Orlando Anaya and brother in-law, James Vigil. He is survived by his daughters, Celeste Anaya Valdez (Richard M.), Francine L. Anaya (Mark Garcia), Christine Anaya Aragon (Matthew) and Cathy D. Anaya, grandchildren, Marcus, Andrew, Angelina, Gabrielle, Isabella and Serenity, sister, Gloria A. Vigil, brother, Ted Anaya, mother of his children, Pearl Olivas, special nephew, Matthew Martinez, many other relatives and friends.
Services were held on January 27, 2017 at 11 AM at Rivera Chapel.
