Arthur Joseph Johnson, 91, was called home to our Lord on May 4, 2021. Arthur was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was adored by his family, and all who knew him. Arthur is survived by the love of his life Theresa (Tessie). They enjoyed 68 years of marriage filled with love and devotion. Together they raised 6 children, Roberta (Darryl), Gary (Regina), Eric (Elizabeth), Ken (Lori), Jennifer (Vince), and Kevin (Janelle), 24 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Patrocinia Johnson, brothers, Tom Garcia, Robert Johnson and Frank Johnson. Arthur was a devout catholic, a member of Saint John’s Catholic Church, and he was deeply dedicated to the Blessed Mother. Arthur was involved in his community serving on the Santa Fe Board of Education for 12 years (1977 to 1989), he was a lifetime member of the Santa Fe Fiesta Council, the Elks Lodge #460, and the Caballeros De Vargas. He also was proud to have served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1949 where he was a stand-out basketball player. Arthur attended college at San Jose State and New Mexico State University. He would later retire from the State of New Mexico Highway Department as Laboratory Supervisor. While a member of the Board of Education, Arthur helped establish the Santa Fe Community College. Serving as pallbearers are Keith D’Angelico, Gary Johnson Jr., Bryan Johnson, Justin Jiron, Justice Johnson, and Derek Johnson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jonathan Salazar, Dion D’Angelico, Steven Johnson, Brandon Jiron, Joe Ulibarri, Miguel Kelly, Michael Baca and Norman Montoya. Due to Covid services are limited at the church.
