Arthur "Arty" Dean Lovato
3/8/67-5/25/24
It is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Arthur Dean Lovato. Arty was born in San Francisco, CA to Anthony "Artie" Baca and Martha Lovato Okler on March 8th, 1967. He is preceded in death by his father Artie Baca, and many other beloved relatives. He was raised in New York on Long Island, where he graduated from high school. Arty definitely won the best hair award in high school. As a young adult he was a hardcore Metal/Rocker, he had hair that could rival any member of a glam band. He was a devotee of Motley Crew and Ozzy! After high school he attended college at UT where he focused on his most endearing passion, his artwork. Some may not know, but Arty was a master artist in that he could create in every media, he could sketch black and white, he could paint any image in his head with acrylic or oil point and put it on canvas, he could sculpt with clay, and carve in wood, he made jewelry. He could literally pick up things from the ground, sticks, rocks, branches, leaves and make something beautiful with it. Arty also excelled in a cutting edge art form from back in the late 90s called fiber optic, where you could create art using hundreds of thousands of strands of light. Arty made his home back in Santa Fe after college. Arty loved Santa Fe and most recently worked for Brewer Oil the past several years as a store manager. Arty took great pride in his work and treated everyone, including his customers with great kindness and respect. He took so much pride in his store and would be there every day by some ridiculous time like 5am. He will be missed by everyone who knew him through work, customers and coworkers alike. Arty was the kind of guy who would give you the shirt off his back, had a big personality, and an even bigger heart. He had great empathy for the less fortunate. He loved animals and was an avid dog rescuer and was a Dog Dad of 3 rottweilers at the time of his passing.
Arty was a New Yorker at heart, with a brash and charismatic fashion, with a flare for the dramatic. He talked fast, he ate faster, drove fast, and he was not afraid to speak his mind. He would be mad if it was not said that he will always be a Trumper! Maybe only because Trump is New Yorker like him. He was a beautiful, eccentric, and courageous soul. Gone too soon. But Arty did not leave home, he has gone home and will be reunited one day with all of his friends and family.
He will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Arty is survived by his mother Martha Lovato Okler, sister Yvette Bryant (Kyle), niece Emerson Rose, nephew Ethan Ross. Also, by his stepmother Virginia Baca, brother Anthony Baca (Raychel), nieces Kirstyn, and Alyssa. Brother Michael Baca (Melinda), nieces Emily, and Abigail, and uncle Glenn Baca. We would like to recognize his best friends, Frank "Gato" Trujillo, Claudine (Roy) and his life long best friend Joe M from New York. Arty was a "ROCKER" in life! Rock on Arty, you will be missed but we will see you again!
A Mass will be prayed on Friday 8/16/2024 at 10:30am at our Lady Of Guadalupe Santuario Chapel in Santa Fe, with a celebration of his life to follow. Please join us.
