ARTURO FRANCISCO ROMERO, 86, passed peacefully to eternal life with our Beloved Lord Jesus on the night of August 9, 2019, immersed in loving prayer by his Family and Friends. Arturo, also known as Art, was born in Pojoaque, New Mexico, on March 27, 1933, to Rubel and Olivama Romero. He was the second eldest Son, and had three Brothers and three Sisters. At the age of 19, Arturo married Miquela Lopez. The young Family moved to California, where Arturo worked and returned to school by taking night classes and studied to become an Ironworker. After living in Los Angeles for 12 years, Arturo moved his Family back to New Mexico where they settled and built their home in Nambe. Arturo was a proud member of the Intermountain Ironworkers Local 495, and worked until his retirement in 1998 after 36 years of dedicated service. Arturo was an active member of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Parish and was a devout Catholic Christian and faithful Hermano of the Sociedad de Sagrado Corazon de Jesus and member of the Emmanuel Prayer Group.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Brother Reyes Romero; Sister Christina Roybal; Brothers-in-Law Horacio Lopez, Maclovio Lopez, Jose C. Romero, Leo Lopez, Manuel Trujillo, Gilbert Romero, Pat Roybal; Sisters-in-Law Ernestina Trujillo, Virginia Romero; Son-in-Law Vince Garcia; and Great Grandson Isaiah Vincent Garcia.
Arturo is survived by his Wife Miquela; Daughters Barbara Romero and Darlene Garcia; Grandchildren Jennifer Romero, Jeremy Romero (Kalmy), Jason Romero (Shar), Quella Gooch (Justin), Nicholas Garcia (April), Noelle Jackson (Adam), Joseph Romero (Rachel); Great Grandchildren Santiago Romero, Amélie Romero, Francisco Romero, Nautica Gooch, Mateo Ponce, Capri Gooch, Sophia Romero, Aven Jackson, Jeremiah Romero; Siblings Antonio Romero (Maxine), Oralia (Lala) Romero, Esquipula de Luna (Lupe), Andy Romero (Chavela); Sisters-in-Law Priscilla Lovato (Joe), Rafelita Martinez-Cline, and Mary Quintana; and many GodChildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 5:30 pm and a Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm on Friday, August 16, 2019, at Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Catholic Church in Nambe, New Mexico. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe del Valle de Pojoaque Catholic Church, followed by interment at the Pojoaque Cemetery.
Serving as Pallbearers are Jeremy Romero, Jason Romero, Nicholas Garcia, Joseph Romero, Justin Gooch, and Adam (A.J.) Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Arturo’s name to New Mexico Alzheimer’s Association.
The Family of Arturo F. Romero has entrusted the care of their loved one to Rivera Family Funerals and Cremations of Santa Fe.
