Arturo Salazar

Arturo "Art" Salazar was born unto Bernadette and Federico Salazar on December 23, 1931. It was on the 16th day November 2021 that Arturo rejoined his heavenly father and was reunited with his parents. Arturo lived a full life and grew a large family, hand raising many of his grandchildren first-hand. Arturo was an Army Air Core and U.S. Navy Veteran, serving his country proudly and honorably. Arturo married Carmen Justina Espinosa and enjoyed his 6 children with her for 45 years before Carmen returned home to the Lord. Arturo is preceded in death by his parents Bernadita & Federico Salazar, Brothers Henry & Alex Salazar, Sisters Florence & Toni Salazar, First Born Daughter Janet V. Salazar, grandson Michael Anthony Salazar-Gallegos & Joshua Martinez, Madalynn Montoya. Arturo is survived by his brothers Andrew (Priscilla), Sonny (Mary Lou) & Miguel (Cecelia), Clemente (Drucilla) Salazar, his sister Molly Salazar, his children Geraldine Gonzales, Arthur Charles Salazar (Donna), Manuel Mark Salazar (Eva) & Marcia Martinez (Henry). Arturo is survived by his grandchildren Jennifer Gallegos, Melanie Fordham, Henry Justin Martinez, Charles Salazar, Adam Salazar, Brian Maestas, Leah Martinez, Ryan Salazar, Isaiah Martinez, Elijah Martinez, Dakota Salazar. Great Grandchildren: Brooke Lynn Dixon, Adrianna & Izabella Guerrero, Kristen & Jace Fordham, Furia & Susannah Martinez, Stephen Montoya & Kyleigh Martinez, and several other nieces, nephews and family members. Arturo spent a good life living on his terms, enjoying as only he knew how. Throughout his 89 years Art made many friends and enjoyed conversations and laughter often in their company. Arturo devoted his life to a successful career and his retirement to his family.  Arturo will be greatly missed for his kind and giving spirit, his hearty joy filled and mischievous laugh, and his never-failing strength throughout life.

A Rosary was recited Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 7:00 pm at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 16, 2021, at 10:15 am, also at San Juan Bautista Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial services with full military honors will follow at 12:45 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers include Henry Justin Martinez, Charles Andrew Salazar, Brooke Dixon, Kristen & Jace Fordham, Isaiah Martinez, Elijah Martinez.

Honorary Pallbearers: Adam Salazar, Ryan Salazar, Brian Maestas, Dakota Salazar.
