Audrey Jean Salazar, 55, of Taos passed to another life in Albuquerque, NM on August 19, 2008 after a short illness. She was born on August 05, 1953 in Jaroso, CO. Audrey was a retired school teacher, a former secretary of the Sangre de Cristo Land Grant and currently a researcher for the organization. She was also a member of the Sacred Heart League, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Club and VFW Auxiliary Post 1547. She is preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Martinez, brother, Teddy Martinez, nephews Phillip Martinez and Jesus Ortiz, father in law, Aurelio Salazar, grandmothers, Florentina Ortega, Rebecca Martinez, Apolinia Salazar, and Enenfora Patron and sister in law, Irene Cruz. Audrey is survived by her parents, Ted and Alice Martinez, husband, Mike Salazar, children, Melissa Martinez, Irene Salazar and Miguel Salazar, sister, Jayne Martinez, brothers, Stanley, James and Paul Martinez, grandchildren, Joshua and Ernestina Martinez and Jason Salazar. She is also survived by goddaughters, Angelica Martinez and Inez Bolivar, mother in law, Marcella Salazar, many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousin, and friends and in laws.
Viewing was held on August 22, 2008 at Rivera Chapel in Taos. Rosaries were recited on August 25, 2008 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM and on August 26, 2008 at San Francisco de Asis Church in Ranchos de Taos. Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at 10 AM at San Francisco de Asis Church in Ranchos de Taos with interment following at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
