Augustina Valdez

Augustina (Tina) Valdez, age 88, resident of Santa Fe, NM was born on June 7, 1933 and was called home to Heaven on May 26, 2022 while surrounded by her loving family.

She was a kind, compassionate, accepting person who loved her family very much. Her presence brought joy to their lives. Tina was preceded in death by her parents Serafio and Adelina Segovia; adoptive parents Pedro and Pablita Baca; husband, Ramon Valdez; brothers Tony Segovia and Pablo Segovia; sister Felice Vigil; daughter Dolores Napier and grandson Albert Napier. She is survived by her siblings, Esther Gomez and husband Victor, Marcy Sena and husband Juan, Benny Vialpando, Emma Chavez, Willie Segovia, Alfred Segovia and wife Fannie, and Filiberto Segovia; children Jerome Valdez and wife Francis, Lawrence Valdez and wife Jean, Geraldine Ward, Rayline Valdez and husband Joaquin, James Valdez and wife Jennifer and son-in-law Robert Napier; grandchildren Phillip Valdez, Nicole Valdez, Laurence Valdez, Latisha Cabaniss and husband Jesse, Keshia Ward, Malarie Valdez, Eric Valdez, Reyna Trujillo and husband Jay, Tina Montoya and wife Eve, several great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Tina had a very strong faith in and devotion to God. Prayer was a part of her daily life and she surrounded herself with crosses and angels. Tina enjoyed playing bingo, word search puzzles, and going to yard sales. Even while doing the things she enjoyed, she always thought of her family and enjoyed going to bingo with them, challenging them to a friendly word search game, buying thoughtful gifts for them, and praying for them.

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 8th at 10:00 am at Santa Maria de la Paz. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately after at 10:30 am. Reception to follow. Private burial will be at a later date.
