Augustine Miera

Augustine (Auggie) Miera, 42, of Velarde (La Canova), passed away unexpectedly on December 24, 2024. He was born on August 27, 1982 to Orlando and Boonie Miera. He attended Velarde Elementary and then went to Victory Faith where he graduated in 1995. 

After graduation, he became a handyman doing odd jobs helping his family and friends with projects around their homes. 

Augustine was preceded in death by his mother, Boonie Miera; brother, Leonard Rivera; grandparents, Antonio and Eliza Rivera; nephew, Manuel Rivera; and niece, RoseAnn Garcia.

He is survived by his father, Orlando Miera Sr. (Eloy); sisters, Soledad (Archie) Martinez, Eliza Miera, Orlanda Gonzales, and Samantha Miera who was raised like a sister; brother, Orlando (Bridgette) Miera, Jr; special aunts, Guadalupe Medina and Sylvia Salazar; many nephews, nieces, and cousins plus many other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Soledad Martinez, Eliza Miera, Orlanda Gonzales, and Samantha Miera.

A Rosary will be held Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 14 Private Road 1043, Velarde, New Mexico 87582. Augustine’s Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 am at the church concluding with burial in the church cemetery.
