September 7, 1932 — October 24, 2008

Augustin M. Smokey Montoya, 76, of Espanola died peacefully on Friday October 24, 2008 in Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his daughter Eleanor Montoya, brother Frank Montoya, Sister Mary Quintana and parents Ernesto and Antonia Montoya. He retired from Zia Corporation as a heavy equipment operator and is veteran of the United States Army having served in Germany. He enjoyed the beautiful New Mexico outdoors and his friendships in the Espanola Valley, hell be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his daughters Sandra Martinez and husband Toby D. of Chimayo, Liza Hayden and husband Brad of Albuquerque and Cindy Jaros and husband Joe of Albuquerque. His grandchildren include Kimberly Archuleta and husband David, Toby Martinez, Jr., Ashley Dilley, Brian Martinez, Ryan Hayden, Alyssa Martinez, Mitchell Hayden, Nicholas Jaros, and Great-Granddaughter Joslyne Martinez, brothers and sisters; Benito Montoya of Santa Fe, Tony J. Montoya and wife Aurora of San Pedro and Nettie Maestas of Dallas, TX., and other family members. Recitation Rosary will be held on Monday October 27th at 7:00pm at La Iglesia De Santa Cruz De La Canada, The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 9:30am at the same church with internment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors. Assisting the family as pallbearers will be Gilbert and Kevin Montoya, Dennis and Joseph Maestas, Armando Lucero and Tony Quintana.
