AVON BYRD
Passed away peacefully at St. Vincent's Hospital on April 17, 2008.
The wonderful staff at St. Vincent's ER and CCU provided excellent care and compassion during her final days.
Avon was born on December 12, 1921, in Amarillo, Texas to Ira and Grace Brown.
Avon was preceded in death by her father, mom and beloved husband.
She is survived by sons: Jerry and wife, Elizabeth, of White Rock and Larry and wife, Susan, of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Bryan, Abad, Casey, Nicole; great grand children: Braxton, Calvin, Catch and Drew.
Avon grew up in Amarillo Texas, and she graduated from high school in l939. As a youngster, she enjoyed horses and art.
She married her sweetheart, Carl, in l941. She waited very patiently for her husband to return from World War II. He returned from the war in 1945, at which time they moved to Santa Fe . This showed the dedication and love she had for her husband. Avon loved Santa Fe, and she vowed to never leave here. She loved the clean air and the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains. She also loved the three cultures living in this area. She loved people and nature, and she became an excellent artist. Her paintings exhibit her creative ability and love of nature. Avon was also an avid gardener (She just loved to nurture plants and flowers).
Avon was a wonderful loving dedicated mother. She dedicated her life to her husband and sons. The family always came first. She also had a beautiful relationship with her sister, Helen. They loved to spend time together painting and drinking coffee (What a blessing). People used to call them the "twins."
Avon worked for the National Education Association for 13 years in order to help put her sons through college. This again showed the dedication and love she had for her family. She sacrificed it all for her family. She retired in 1980, and took care of her aging parents for ten years. Avon was such a compassionate and loving mother. She also loved dogs and all animals. Avon will be missed by everyone. God Bless Her Big Time.
