Barbara Jeanne (Newhouser) Densmore, 80, passed away on Friday July 15, 2011. Born on November 11, 1930 in Waltham MA and raised in Oakfield ME, she grew up surrounded by a loving family who constantly encouraged her to follow her dreams. With family remaining as her highest priority, she also had a passion for education and travel. She graduated from Morse High School in Bath, ME, and earned an Associate Degree from Boston University, and Bachelor and Master Degrees from the University of Rhode Island. Continuing her love for education, she became a high school teacher on the island of Guam. After retiring as a teacher, she returned to the Northeast to live with family and most recently resided in New Mexico. Barbara is survived by her daughter Jeanne Alvarez, son-in-law Luis Alvarez, daughter-in-law Susan Newhouser, and eight grandchildren: Joseph Alvarez and his wife Wendy Alvarez, Theresa Alvarez, Anthony Alvarez, Steven Alvarez, Nicolas Newhouser and his wife Jennifer Newhouser and Clinton Newhouser Jr. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Jasmine Alvarez and Joseph Alvarez Jr. and by her sister Betty Haaland and multiple nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sons Krag Ronald Newhouser and Clinton Lloyd Newhouser, her parents Theodore and Helen Densmore, and her brothers Bertram James Densmore and Roger Densmore. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund under honor and memorial gifts in Barbara Densmores name.
