Barbara Lee Brown
September 7, 1942 – February 25, 2017
Barbara Lee Brown was born in Washington D.C. on September 7, 1942. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School, later graduating from George Washington University.
Barbara married Eric Reuther of Washington D.C. After divorcing, she moved to Ibiza, Spain for the next ten years, then returning to the states and settling into married life with Richard Cummings in Coconut Grove, Florida. They raised her daughter Laura Cat Engel-Brown from a previous relationship in Miami.
She then moved to Santa Fe, NM where she lived for 25 years, creating a life of study and philanthropy. During her time in Santa Fe, she earned a Master’s in Eastern Classical Literature from St. John’s as well as a Master’s in Counseling from Southwestern. Her family business, Aldon Management in Bethesda, MD was always a priority in her life.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Laura Cat Engel-Brown (me), Cat’s significant other, Jeremy Lydon, her two granddaughters, Laila Rose Kiley and Ameile Paige Lydon, her sisters, Patricia Anne Brown and daughter Sage, Donna Brown Capizzi, Donna’s husband Mark Capizzi, her son Gabe Gunther-Brown and his wife Lin, her first cousin, Jay Rosenbaum, her soul sister, Carrie McCarthy, and her business manager and close friend, Facundo Garcia.
