Barby (Barbara Lind) Murray Barby (Barbara Lind) Murray of Santa Fe, New Mexico died on May 31, 2017. She was 77. Arrangements are being handled by Rivera Family Funerals & Cremations. At Barby’s request, there will be no service. Barby was born on March 2, 1940 in Washington D.C. to Barbara Burke and Lewis M. Lind. In her youth, the family lived in Austria, India and Switzerland due to her father’s employment. When not overseas, the family lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Barby received a bachelor's degree from St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland in 1963. She then moved to Santa Fe, in part, to briefly continue life in the St. John’s community. Barby was intelligent, inquisitive and easily bored. She was a voracious reader, ardent notetaker, naturalist and animal lover. Her sharp wit was balanced by her generosity, humor and kindness. She was loved by many and was a fierce protector of those she loved. Barby was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Pete (Hugh Sutherland) Murray, brother Bill (William Wallace) Lind. She is survived by her son, Colin, and her daughter Casey. She will be dearly missed. We love you, Mom.
