After a fierce year Barbara “Spike” Stevens of Santa Fe left this earth on Friday May 21. Born august 24, 1945, in Buffalo NY, she made her way west to college at western State and never looked back. Barb met Sue Garfitt while she was teaching in Denver CO. Together they began a real estate business in 1977, which they continued in Eldorado where they settled in 1987.
Barb was a lifelong sports enthusiast and participant. She loved to ski, hike, dance, fish, bicycle, ride her motorcycle, and root for the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees. She was keenly interested in the world and traveled extensively. She was passionate about finance and was a skilled investor and trader. Barb loved living in New Mexico and in Particular her community of Eldorado volunteer committees.
Barb leaves behind her loving spouse of 45 years Sue and their Husky Casey, dear friends, and neighbors. Her family wishes to acknowledge the kindness and care of her hospice team of Dr. Thron, RN’s Jeanie and B’jaia, care giver Nena, and all the ambercare staff.
One of Barb’s last wishes was to drive a Porsche, top down, through the plaza with Sue and friends. Not accomplished, but easily imagined by all who loved her!
A memorial in Barbs memory will be announced in the near future.
