Beatrice Joanne Curran

May 26, 1936 — June 15, 2021

Beatrice Joanne Curran better known as Bea, 85 of Santa Fe ascended to heaven joining the best of the guardian angels.  She got her wish she passed peacefully at home with family. Bea was born May 26, 1936 in Indiana, PA daughter of Paul and Elizabeth Duncan Ginther.  Beatrice was born a proud twin. As we all know, she could never have just one of anything, she always had two of everything, except for a husband.  Beatrice had five sisters and one brother they are all survived by sister, Betty Smith, of Irwin PA.

At 19 Bea was very adventures moving from Pennsylvania to Las Cruses where she meet her true love and husband of 64 years, Neil W. Curran, of Santa Fe NM.  Together their pride and joy was their family which included Kathy Carnahan, Robert Curran “Bob”, and the late Larry Curran.  Beatrice sacrificed and severed the state of New Mexico as a law enforcement wife for 41 years, which was no easy task.  Bea, Sandra, Eloy Gallegos and others master minded 12 fun filled State Police picnics.  These were memorable fun filled weekends of camping, food, and games.

Beas's life was very blessed as they traveled the country and the family continued to grow, they now have 7 grandchildren including her grand dog, Rusty, and 11 great grandchildren.  Bea and Neils best quality is their desire to keep family close even when they are thousands of miles apart no matter if they are daughters, sisters, brother, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or cousins.  They were admired most for their unconditional love for family and friends.

Bea had many hidden talents and did all of them over the top.  She was an excellent seamstress making her own extravagant evening gowns and outfits, she loved to decorate the whole house for every holiday, and she loved making her own personalized greeting cards for every occasion.  Neil and Bea loved to dance and were pretty good at it.

Bea won the award for best parent and grandparent gift giving, all the kids loved her elaborate gifts and the beautiful wrapping.  Beas giving heart was not limited to her family, many people were touched by her endless generosity. For many years Bea was a caring and compassionate caregiver for her mother-in-law. We are still trying to figure out how K-Mart went out of business because Bea loved to shop and remember she never had one of anything. Once they went under Bea learned to love QVC and Big Lots almost as much. Bea was also known for never going anywhere without her camera and usually more than one, of course, she had numerous movie cameras and photo cameras.  Bea’s hobbies included vast collections including Elvis memorabilia, VHS collections, angels, dolls, beanie babies, creative technology, long phone conversations with loved ones, music, she had tons of decorations for each and every holiday and mounds and mounds of photographs. She loved her computer and spent countless hours making personalized cards for each family member.

We can’t forget her passion for politics and love for her country.  Her employment at Ortero County assessor's office fostered that passion.  Other jobs included White Sands Missile Range and the National Park Service.

The Curran family would like to especially thank Good Samaritan of Alburquerque. Their staff was so supportive and without their help we would not have been able to fulfill Bea’s wishes.  We would like to express an extra thank you to Jennifer “Nurse”, Erica “Nurses Aid”, Marta "Caregiver”, Daryl Curran “brother-in-law”, Rosa “more than a housekeeper” and many others for their support during the family's most difficult times.

Visitation begins at 10:00 on Monday, June 21, 2021 at Rivera Kiva Chapel of Light followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. with interment following the service at Santa Fe Memorial Gardens.
