Belarmino (Bill) Giron, 84, died peacefully Sunday, August 30, 2015, surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Guadalupe and Juanita Giron, brothers Victor Jiron and wife Mary Jiron, Ralph and wife Flosela Jiron, Guadalupe (Lupe) Giron; sisters Amalia Serna and husband Nash, Maria Elena Baca and husband Florindo, and Ramona Jiron, and children, Roberto Steven and Anna Marie Giron. He is survived by his wife Frances Chavez Giron; brother Orlando Giron and wife Tres; sister-in-law Fernie Giron; his children: Rosina and husband Rusty Ervin, Juanita Giron, Carlos and wife Tekla Giron, David Michael and wife Teresa Giron, Rick Giron, and Ernesto Giron; 13 grandchildren: Tobias Ervin, Crystal and husband Kevin Miller, Aubrey Booher, Andy Giron, Billy Giron, Hunter Giron, Nova Giron, Maritza Franco, Tia Giron, Joseph Giron, Elijah Giron, Tomas Giron; 6 great grandchildren: McKaylin and Jordon Ervin, Aedin, Skyelar and Lief Miller, and Lia Fisher; many nieces, nephews, and grand-nephews/nieces. Prior to Bills retirement in 1987, he had a distinguished career as a public servant, e.g. served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1948-52 attaining the rank of sergeant; among other key positions he was a Consultant to the US Department of State, Administrative Aid to Governor King, and Assistant to the State of NM Commissioner of Public Lands, various positions in the Department of Finance and Administration, to mention a few. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe, Pojoaque, NM, with visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, Pojoaque, NM, with reception and food immediately following the ceremony in the Parish Hall. The burial procession will commence at 2:00 pm and proceed to the Santa Fe National Cemetery for the 3:00 p.m. burial ceremony. The family thanks everybody for their thoughts and prayers. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the Sombrillo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Employee Fund, 1010 Sombrillo Ct, Los Alamos, NM 87544.
