Benita Garcia

Benita V. Garcia – 71 of La Mesilla passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2008 at the family home. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Johnny Patrick Garcia; parents: Gabriel and Josefita Valdez; sisters: Margaret Archuleta and Odelia Garcia; brother, Gusman Valdez and mother and father in law: Juan B. and Marina A. Garcia. "May their souls rest in peace." On the day of her passing she was happy caring for her beautiful flowers and grandchildren. Benita and her husband owned and operated Valley Monument Company for over 25 years. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always gave her time freely to those she cared for. She will be dearly missed. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Jose C. Garcia; children: Lucille Bustos and husband Jimmy of Arlington, TX, Joe Garcia and Jeanene Sparks, Paul Garcia and wife Lori, Julie Martinez and husband Ray and Phillip Garcia and wife Heather all of La Mesilla; brothers: Gabe Valdez and wife Margie of Albuquerque and Felix Valdez and wife Lorraine of Bernalillo; sister, Lillie Holcomb of Los Alamos; grandchildren: Jimmy, Jr., Mark, Dana, Christopher, Sean, Danna, Jodi Lynn, Mikayla, Kayanna, Jarrod , Jessica, Skylor, Mario and Mateo; numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives. A wake service will be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Block-Salazar Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be: Jimmy, Jr., Mark, Christopher, Sean, Jarrod, Skylor and Mario.
