Benito S. Montoya
Born on February 18, 1921 in Santo Nino, N.M. to Ernesto and Antonia Montoya, passed away on February 2, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dolores, son Chris, great granddaughter Rebecca, sister Mary, brothers Frank, Augustine, Tony (wife Aurora), and many in-laws, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins. He was in the CCC Camp Company 833, which built the Southwest Regional office building of the National Park Service on Old Santa Fe Trail. Benito served in the US Army, World War II stationed in France, Belgium, Germany, and Luxembourg. He was the recipient of two bronze stars and a purple heart. He retired from Los Alamos National Lab after thirty-four years of service. He is survived by his daughters, Loretta, Angela, Judy (partner Ralph), son Jerry, grandchildren Trisha (husband Vince), Darren (partner Roberta), Brian, Jessica (husband Larry), Dominic, sister Netti Maestas, great grandchildren Miquela, Amalia, DeAna, and Anthony. Rosary will be recited at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church located at 1301 Osage Ave, Santa Fe, NM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 10:00am followed by Mass at 11:00am. Burial will take place on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:15am at the National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Darren Lopez, Brian Davis, Dominic Montoya, Larry Maestas, Vincent Gallegos, and Marcus Garcia. Honorary pall bearers are Trisha Gallegos, Jessica Maestas, Roberta Barajas, Miquela and Amalia Gallegos, DeAna Lopez, and Anthony Maestas.
