Bertha Romero

Our beloved mother Bertha Romero, age 87, passed away January 24, 2020. She was born to Eduardo and Isabel Trujillo in Taos, NM.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonardo “Lalo” Romero in 2014; her daughter, Edna; her grandsons, Jeremy and Matthew Vigil; grandparents who raised her, Trinidad & Rosenda Lopez; parents, Eduardo and Isabel Trujillo; sisters, Alice Gregio (Cresencio), Andy Rodriguez (Pat) and Gaby Jensen; brothers, Esequiel Trujillo (Connie), Felix Trujillo (Corine), and Nestor Trujillo.

She is survived by her children, Joyce Vigil (Henry), Michael Romero, Edith Romero, Suzanne Valerio (Michael), Robert Romero (Eileen), David Romero (Christa) and Amy Pacheco (Ramon); grandson she helped raise, Mark Romero (Marie); 24 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; siblings, Dora Lucero (Edmundo), Luisa Martinez and Fidel Trujillo (Linda); her Godson and brother, Leonard Trujillo (Rose); special friend, Loveida Martinez; and numerous relatives and friends.

Bertha was a stay at home mother who raised eight children and cared for and nurtured countless grandchildren. Her home, like her heart, was always filled with love and warmth. She loved people and could often be found in town talking and laughing with whoever she met. While she was a soft spoken lady, she never shied away from adventure; from spontaneously flying in airplanes to riding rollercoasters, she always lived her life to its fullest.

A rosary and memorial service will be on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 6 PM at Rivera’s Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral service will be on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 10 AM at the Ranchos Presbyterian Church. Interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Friday, January 31, 2020 at 9:45 AM.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Daniel Vigil, Mark Romero, Robert “Bobby” Romero, Kimberly Romero, Steven Pacheco, James Valerio, and Santiago Romero
