Mary Abby Salazar, a resident of Española, New Mexico left this world peacefully on Wednesday March 3, 2021 at the age of 76. Abby was born
October 25, 1944 in Nambe, NM and was raised in a loving home with her parents and 12 siblings. She married in 1967 to Phil Salazar and spent a wonderful life with him and her two children. Wonderful memories were also made with her three grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family and her faith and knew that each day was a blessing from God. Her daily highlights were: phoning her 4 sisters and many friends every morning, praying the rosary, and enjoying the beauties of nature. Abby was a loving, witty, sincere, and wonderful person that will truly be missed. She was preceded in death by parents, Eloy and Guadalupita Herrera, brothers, Teodolo, Eloy Jr., Jose Maria, Jesus, Sammy, Tommy and Timmy and a special brother-in-law Bobby Vigil. Abby is survived by her loving husband of 52 years Phil Salazar; her daughter Brenda and husband Phillip Salazar, her son Ron and wife Valerie Salazar, and her grandchildren Anthony (who was like a son to her), Adrianna and Adrian. She is survived by her siblings: Minnie Vigil, Lydia Archuleta, Shirley and husband Charles Hernandez, Julie and husband Preston Roberts, and Donald Herrera. Abby also had many nephews, nieces, friends and other loved ones.
A rosary will be recited on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 10:30am at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz, NM followed by funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. also at the Holy Cross. Burial to follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery. Due to Covid restrictions, the church capacity is 100 and social distancing will be in place. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family asks you to register to be an organ donor.
