Brian Varela

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Brian James Varela, age 43, a resident of Pecos, NM. He was born in Grants, NM to Eluterio and Sixta Varela.

Brian is survived by his parents, grandmother, Polly, son, Shawn, brother David (Stephanie) and sister Sheryl (Jeremy). Nephews, DJ (Mariah), Steven (Danicia), Isaac (Natasha) and Dominik. Niece, Danae (Josh). Great nephew, Mateo. Great nieces, Celestina, Liliana, and Martina. He is also survived by his uncles and aunts, Ernest (Linda), Sista (Madrina), Ines, Michael (Diana), Barbara (Gilbert), Paul (Michelle), Andrew (Anita), Sandra (Kenny), Marty (Evelyn) and Diana (Rick).

Brian is preceded in death by his grandparents, Eluterio and Louisa Varela and Joe Armijo. Padrino, Silviano Martinez. Uncles, Sabino (+Helen), Virgil (+Irene) and Eloy (+Esther). Nephews, Derek and Angel. Brian leaves behind numerous relatives and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be, DJ Varela, Steven Varela, Isaac Varela, Julian Varela, Marty Armijo and Anthony Martinez. Honorary pallbearers, Shawn Varela and Dominik Lujan.

Services for Brian will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Pecos, NM. Rosary will be recited at 10am and mass will begin at 11am with interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
