Calvin Merriman

Calvin (Cal) Ainsworth Merriman, 83, died in Taos on December 18, 2011. He is preceded in death by parents, Ruth Ainsworth and Harry Upton Merriman. He is survived by wife, Norah Ann Merriman; children Ben (Alane) Merriman of Mpls., Chris Merriman; granddaughter Kate (Sorensen) Rothfus and husband Mark, as well as two great-grandchildren Troy Calvin & Luke, all from western MT. Grew up near Lake Harriet, graduated U of M, U.S. Navy pilot during Korean War. Cal was an avid outdoorsman and natural athlete, skilled at fishing, hunting, camping, canoeing, skiing, steer roping and cow penning. Taught Chris and Ben to fly fish and downhill ski at a young age; introduced Kate to her lifelong love of horses. Founder, Mazama Country Inn, Mazama, WA. For the last 5 years, Cal lived in Taos, NM; active member of Taos Lions Club and Geezers Club. Memorials contributions may be made in Calvins name to the Lions Club of Taos P.O.
