Carlos “Charlie” Octaviano Hammer, 91, of Ranchos de Taos passed away on October 14, 2017. He has gone to join his beloved wife, Antoina and daughter, Diana who preceded him in death. Charlie was a devoted husband father and grandfather. He most enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with loved ones. Charlie proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp., upon his return he held several jobs including; Union Pacific Railroad, Pot Creek Saw Mill, and until retirement as heavy equipment operator for the town of Taos. In retirement he served as a driver for forest fire camp crew amongst other small jobs. A debilitating illness confined him to home for his final 2 years. Charlie is survived his children, Barbara Martinez (Albert), Conchita (Anastacio), Rick Hammer (Gail), Anabel Aragon (Jose), Gary Hammer (Jean), Elmer Hammer, Steve Hammer (Rosemary), Giovanna Pineda (Jose), grandchildren, Meredith, Nadine, Yolanda, Jenny, William, Lorraine, Adam, Crista, Julia, Hernaldo, Heidi, Dominic, Stephanie, Junior, Anna, Daniel, Loren, Lori, Steven, Crystal and Kyle, several great and great great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 7 PM at San Francisco de Asis Catholic Church. Funeral mass was held on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10 AM at San Francisco de Asis Church. Interment was held on Friday, October 20, 2017 at 9:45 at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
